|
|
Hello,
I currently own a C3650 visualize workstation from HP running gentoo linux. The system came with its stock CPU, a PA-8700 at 625 MHz. Is a cpu upgrade possible on this system? What options do I have?

The 3650 is compatible with slightly higher-clocked PA-8700 chips. You're extremely unlikely to ever run across such processor modules. I don't know that HP even sold upgrades from 3650 to 3700 to 3750...
You already have a last-generation HPPA. Enjoy it while it lasts |

Is the CPU change easy? Any hints? _________________ "I know you insist but I won't pollute it with crap!" -- Dave Cutler to Bill Gates during the development of Windows NT |

I don't even know.
I've never, ever, ever seen an extra CPU lying around.
The cheapest way to get ahold of the faster processor module would probably be to buy a complete 3700/3750 system on the used market -- In which case you would be a fool to cannibalize it to try to upgrade your 3650. |
