I have recent 2.6, udev installed ... and /dev still contains 1435 entries ... including hda* when I did not even put IDE kernel drivers ...
# emerge -vp vanilla-sources udev
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] sys-kernel/vanilla-sources-2.6.14.2 -build +doc +symlink 0 kB
[ebuild R ] sys-fs/udev-079-r1 (-selinux) 0 kB
Total size of downloads: 0 kB
# mount |grep udev
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw,nosuid)
and usually that does it on x86 ....
what could be wrong ? _________________ DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre (aka DoubleHP ) http://www.demaine.info/
