Having a weird issue, I got my Indy running on a serial console. Everything works great, I netboot and the kernel loads, then it gets to this
Code: | Freeing unused kernel memory: 2760k freed
Gentoo Linux; http://www.gentoo.org/
Copyright 2001-2005 Gentoo Foundation; Distributed under the GPL
Gentoo/MIPS Netboot for SGI Indy Systems
Build Date: September 02, 2006
* To configure networking, do the following:
* For Static IP:
* /bin/net-setup <IP Address> <Gateway Address> [telnet]
* For Dynamic IP:
* /bin/net-setup dhcp [telnet]
* If you would like a telnetd daemon loaded as well, pass "telnet"
* As the final argument to /bin/net-setup.

And it just STOPS. Like, I need to remove the power cord to reboot the machine. I'm running a netboot image from geoman, all my netboot stuff obviously works OK, and I tried with/without the console=ttyS0,9600 bit. I'm on Minicom on my P4 controlling it, 9600 8N1. The only thing I thought it might be is the shell not liking my serial setup, which is a Cisco rollover cable that I chopped up, and one spare 24AWG hanger for the DCD. I followed a guide from a Usenet post, and the fact that the PROM and netboot part work puzzle me as to why I cannot get a shell. I have 13W3 adaptor coming in the mail in a few days and an SGI KB/mouse as well, so I'll try that way, but the Indy came first and I couldn't wait. Thanks for any help on the issue. _________________ -Shuttle SN25P, Opteron 185, 74Gb WD Raptor, 2x 300Gb Barracuda 7200.9, 2x 1Gb Corsair dual channel, BFG GeForce 7800GT

I managed to get it to boot 2 times, at random. No changes, just sometimes it works, but for every success I needed to hard-reboot t 20 times. I used the debian 2.4 image and it booted perfect right off the bat. Instaling the stage tarball as we speak _________________ -Shuttle SN25P, Opteron 185, 74Gb WD Raptor, 2x 300Gb Barracuda 7200.9, 2x 1Gb Corsair dual channel, BFG GeForce 7800GT
