I recently installed an Hauppauge WinTV-Radio (model 401, kernel module cx8800) in my computer. The TV tuner works perfectly (image and sound). I tried to make the radio tuner work with gnomeradio and kradio, but it doesn't : Once the application is started, I only hear the same continuous noise (it is not the noise you hear when there is no radio station on the choosen frequency). Changing the frequency does not have an effect on the noise, it is always the same.

I checked with dmesg and the radio tuner is detected (/dev/radio0).

An idea?

Note : it works on Windows

I must mention that I have the cx8800 driver builtin the kernel (not has a module).

I put the part of dmesg relevant to cx8800 :

Code:
cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.5 loaded
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:0b.0[A] -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
CORE cx88[0]: subsystem: 0070:3401, board: Hauppauge WinTV 34xxx models [card=1,autodetected]
TV tuner -1 at 0x1fe, Radio tuner -1 at 0x1fe
input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard on isa0060/serio0
tveeprom 0-0050: Hauppauge model 34132, rev J168, serial# 8313514
tveeprom 0-0050: tuner model is LG TAPE H001F MK3 (idx 68, type 47)
tveeprom 0-0050: TV standards NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08)
tveeprom 0-0050: audio processor is CX880 (idx 30)
tveeprom 0-0050: has radio
cx88[0]: registered IR remote control
cx88[0]/0: found at 0000:00:0b.0, rev: 5, irq: 17, latency: 32, mmio: 0xea000000
cx88[0]/0: registered device video0 [v4l2]
cx88[0]/0: registered device vbi0
cx88[0]/0: registered device radio0
cx2388x blackbird driver version 0.0.5 loaded
tuner 0-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (cx88[0])
tuner 0-0061: type set to 47 (LG NTSC (TAPE series))
tda9885/6/7: chip found @ 0x86

I do not see anything wrong since the radio tuner is mapped to /dev/radio0.

I have tested again with gnomeradio today and now I think the problem is that the radio tuner is always listening at the same frequency and the frequency slider in gnome radio does not really change it. I say that because today I can hear sometime noise and sometime the guys who are removing the snow in the streets of the city talking to each other using CBs....! When I try to change the frequency, it does nothing, always listening to the same guys.

For antiwmac : I am only using channel 3 because I use the output of my numerical cable decoder as input (it use channel 3). I cannot say for quality of other channels since I don't have analog cable.

now I am facing the same problem. Tvtime works perfectly, but no gnomeradio output for a cx8800 card.

Edit: Now I see what happened. Kernel 2.6.25-r1 is broken for cx8800 fm radio support.
