Does anyone know what wireless NIC cards (PCI-interface) are supported by 2005.1-r1 LiveCD? I currently use a Netgear WG311T and it requires madwifi drivers which I know weren't included in the 2005.1 cd. I'm not sure about the r1 version though.
I'd like to basically be able to buy a new card from best buy or wherever, install the card, pop in the Live CD, run iwconfig, set the ESSID and watch it roll w/o having to emerge all of these different drivers--namely b/c I usually never manage to grab all the dependencies. _________________ ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe - AMD64 3500+

it looks like gentoo 2005.1-r1 has modules for hostap, ipw2100, ipw2200, orinoco, acx, hermes. I.e. pretty much everything except Atheros-based cards.
This site: http://www.seattlewireless.net/HardwareComparison has some information about cards and their chipsets. Basically, Prism-based cards should work. Most of the cards BestBuy sells are probably Atheros-based though. |
