Whenever I run
Code:
grub-install /dev/hda
, I get the following error:

Code:
grub-install end_request: I/O error, dev f80, sector 0
Buffer I/O error on devide fd0, logical block

Isn't fd0 my floppy drive? I'm assuming that the fact that I don't have a floppy drive (I have a laptop with the cd-rom instead), this is what's causing it...

(Maybe my answer is in this thread)

I run
Code:
grub --no-floppy
grub>root (hd0,0)
grub>setup(hd0)
grub>quit
and it seems to work. But when I eject the cd and reboot, I get the error
Code:
kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)
Any suggestions?

Hi.

If you look at the sticky GRUB Error Collection, you will see that the solution to your problem is most likely to use
Code:
# grub --no-floppy /dev/hda

Yeah, I saw that and tried it about a minute after I posted the original post. I'm now trying to figure out my kernel panic error. Hopefully there is something here or here
