I am new to this linux gentoo thing. I was wondering whether or not that if I installed and/or partitioned my HDD would that delete all the files which are on there currently including the OS (WinXp) im runnning at the moment. I would be using PartitionMagic 8.0 in order to partition the drive.

If you use partition magic to resize your windows partition(s) and then create some new partitions for linux, you'll be fine.
Just make sure you're very careful which partitions you format |

I expect that'll be fine, I do remember one person I know hosing his system after partition magic crashed, but that was a few years ago...
I hope you're ready for a steep learning curve if you're asking a question like that though |
