I just did a brand-new Gentoo 1.1a installation. I used the stage3 tarball, and then did an emerge kde-base/kde to download and install KDE3.
I was sitting by the machine watching the install, and noticed at the beginning of many of the KDE package configuration, it would throw errors such as:
Circular index.cache.bz2 <- index.cache.bz2 dependency dropped.
It was complaining about not being able to write to /root/.kde/share/help (or something like that, it went by too fast for me to copy down exactly). The complaint seemed to be coming from a program named 'meinproc.'
I did a bit of searching about meinproc, and apparently it has to do with generating the Help files from XML.
Upon checking the KDE HelpCenter, I noticed that the entire thing is blank - the category tree is there on the left, but nothing shows up on the right side when I pick a topic.
How can I re-gen KDE's Help by hand? I'd really rather not go through an entire KDE emerge again |
