Well I got bored of fedora. I'm a complete newb to gentoo and this is my first installation. A bit complicated sure is my first impression, but there seems to be good documentation, so i decided to give it a go.
I've been following the installation instructions verbadim for a cd-only install (no internet). Everything went smooth until I did this command from the installation instructions:
USE="-doc symlink" emerge gentoo-sources
gentoo-sources is supposedly on the installation cd, but it trys to download from the internet, and this of course fails, because there is no internet. How can i tell emerge to get the kernel off the cd? |

Hi and welcome to the forums.
As the manual states, if you need to do a networkless install, you need to download a packages cd. Just in case, if you're using the 2005.1 release, you should be reading this manual. _________________ Jorge.
