I am having trouble getting the bcm43xx drivers to work. The card seems to be working fine and will run with netsnort, but when I try to run dhcpcd or use wifi-radar to connect to a wireless network, the dhcp request just times out. Any ideas?

Subscribe to the mailinglist. This is a known problem with the half-finished driver. It will be fixed "when it's fixed".

Is there no way to get this to work at all then or do I just need to set things manually? I haven't been able to get any manual config working yet either :/

From what I get from scanning the mailinglist daily, it seems to be DHCP that is not working yet with the driver. However, there has been success with manual config. I'm not sure why you are having trouble even with manual config. Try without any encryption and see if that is the cause.
