I'm building up a brand new gentoo-mailserver (postfix + courier-imap), but I'm undecided about the use of hardened stage3 as starting point.
I've read some posts that reports problems with hardened gcc and postfix for example... the new mailserver will be on internet, in this case is an hardened system a must???
Alternately, the daily use of GLSA can be sufficient? _________________ Please EU, pimp my country!

hey!
i dont know, i didnt have any issues, as far as i recall, emerging postfix after using a hardened stage 3 on a x86.
This was like half a year ago though, so maby something has changed. hmm..
so i'd say hardened is the way to fly. unless someone else has anything good to say.
(sadly it doesnt stop oneself from becoming a openrelay caused by crap behind the keyboard *doh*)
I dont know, i kinda sleep better knowing i have a hardened server out there.
could be just me. |
