|
|
Not sure what happened, but I installed cd-burning software on my server and ran a new backup script and now my apache and mysql are hosed.
I re-emerged mysql and it seems to work, but all of the databases are all completely gone. If I unmerge and re-emerge mysql the default mysql database isn't recreated.
So, what's the best way to completely remove mysql and build it from scratch (redo all the config files, permissioning, users and user passwords.)?
Thanks,
-BT

Remove the contents of /var/lib/mysql - that's where the databases are stored. Then run /usr/bin/mysql_install_db to create new ones. |

Thanks alot, that's just what I needed. Got my databases back up and running.
Now I have the fun task of figuring out how this happened.
