Hi all,
I installed Gentoo 5.1 x86_64 on a Dual Opteron Systems with Tyan 2882-D MB 1GB RAM and a 3ware 9500S 12 port card. I have two onboard drives
sda and sdb Silicom Image
3ware with 11 (Seagate 400GB) Drives and I HS is sdc.
First I maually compiled the kernel and it didnt boot as I beleive I didnt compile all the needed modules for on board SATA.
Then I did a genkernel all and somehow it didnt compile the 3w_9xxx modules. I manually inserted the module and made ext3 filesystems on two partitions 1.8TB sdc1 and sdc2 each as neither fdisk or cfdisk took more than that. I specified the module in the /etc/module.autoload.d/kernel-2.6.
Now when the system boots up it gives error about
e2fsk:magic number in super block and say Control D to continue or root passwd for maintenance. I do Control D and I see both sdc1 and sdc2 are mounted.
Any ideas what is going on.
Any help would be great.

are your drives correctly mounted ? Can you see the files on the disks ? Maybe you have incorrectly set the partition type in fstab. Could you post results of "fsck /dev/sdc1" and for the second partition too ? |
