|
|
I run Code: | emerge --sync
emerge --update --deep world --pretend
emerge --update --deep world
| at least once a week. the last one seemed to go OK and everything seems to be working accept openGL
Code: | # glxinfo
glxinfo: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
| glx gears and anything else remotely linked to openGL gives the same result.
I have tried running env-update, ldconfig and setting my LDPATH as per amd64
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-405472-highlight-ldpath.html
nothing works.
revdep-rebuild results in loads of compliation ending with a similar error message.
How can I find out what package did the damage ?
Code: | # locate libGL.so.1
/usr/lib64/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so.1.2
/usr/lib64/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib32/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGL.so.1.0.6629
/usr/lib32/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGL.so.1
/emul/linux/x86/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so.1.2
/emul/linux/x86/usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so.1

I have seen a number of posts suggesting that the /usr/lib/ symlinks should NOT be created by hand.
has this not affected any one else ? _________________ x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux GeForce GTX NVIDIA 1660TI 16GB

I have never had any problems symlinking manually, but I don't know what kind of damage it can do! |

Run opengl-update. _________________ Please make sure that you have searched for an answer to a question after reading all the relevant docs. |

I tried emerging nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel and thats when I noticed the mismatch of kernel versions.
Seems I had not rebooted even though a new kernel had been installed for two months (maybe more).
so I rebooted and reran revdep-rebuild (which failed on openAL until I manually emerged it) but then Xorg would not load "unable to initialise module NVIDIA", so I reemerged nvidia-glx and nvidia-kernel and ran opengl-update nvidia, same error in the end I ran one of the NVIDIA.run scripts I had lying around and now everything works again.
phew what day, time for a full system backup me thinks. _________________ x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux GeForce GTX NVIDIA 1660TI 16GB |

opengl-update ati fixed it for me.
Then I remember what I did.. I changed my card from an nvidia to an ati card. but left the nvidia packages installed last month.. well I just pulled them out without noticing they broke OpenGL. |
