Ok I've install Gentoo several times. But, unfortuantly, as of the writting of this post, I've never sucessfuly completed an install. I guess i'm one of those "stupid" "n00bs." No seriously though.

Currently I have an install of Ubutnu on my PC. (Ubuntu is my fallback distro when I can't get anything else to work.) My Nvidia card works on my Ubuntu install but not with my Gentoo install. I get the splash screen and everything with Ubuntu. Now I've followed the Gentoo Guide to installing your nVidia card, but I always come up with a wide variety of errors including "no screen errors" from X. I'm more than sure its my nVidia card because if I change my driver from "nvidia" to "vesa" I can actually get X to boot up properly.

There is a list of errors at the bottom of the Gentoo nVidia install guide, one of which involves motherboard settings. Well my motherboard's bios dosen't support this option, and running that command returns what that FAQ claims it shouldn't for nVidia to work properly. So finally, If my card works in Ubuntu i'm assuming it is not actually my motherboard thats the problem. The only thing left, I would assume,is my kernel. When I install Gentoo I always custom compile my own kernel. Are than any options in the kernel that would keep my nvidia card from working properly (besides those listed on the install guide)?

couple of quick suggestions:
[*]copy the kernel config from the working ubuntu install and try that when you are compiling the gentoo kernel...
[*]copy the working X config from the ubuntu installation and try that with the gentoo install also..

there is no reason why the nvidia drivers work with your card in one distro and not the other.. only thing i can think of would be that there are incorrect settings between the two setups.. comparing the 2 configurations will allow you to determine what exactly you are missing that is causing the problem for you..

Attack the specific errors. Look for suspicious things in /var/log/messages and /var/log/Xorg.0.log, and search for them using Google (and in these forums).

There are several "current" versions of the nvidia drivers, and no single version works well for every hardware combination. Check which version of the nvidia driver you were using with Ubuntu.

Thanks for the suggestion, I had thought about doing that, but I'm not sure how. I google around and get back to ya.

I'm going to do a reinstall and dual boot them here soon, when I get my new DVD-burner and wireless card, I'll check the config files, and message logs, and let you know how it goes! Thanks for the rapid responces guys!
