|
|
I was under the impression that LVM groups had to be created/defined at install time (mainly because I installed Fedora a few times). Is it something that is normally done *after* install, and will it allow the already created partitions to become part of an LVM?
Thanks,
Steve |

you can do it anytime you want, its a little more work if you want to make exsisting partitions part of the LVM unless the data can be sacrificed. if you need to keep the data you will have to move it to temporary storage or grow lvm/shrink real a bit at a time to move a little at a time. _________________ AMD AthlonXP 3000+ @ 400FSB

But make sure you have backups from important data before trying to move lvm "on fly" |

Thanks for the advice, but how do I use LVM at install time with Gentoo?
Thanks,
Steve |

Perfect, thank you! I'd actually found this beforehand, but hadn't read it in enough detail to understand properly. On your advice, I've read it better now!
Thanks,
Steve |
