Hi!

I'm using the 1.5 version of macchanger (by portage) on a Realtek RTL-8169 using gentoo-sources 2.6.15-r1, and after setting a different mac from it's original i can't ping, DNS or any kind of connection throw that device.
I'm not in the especific computer so i can't post now my defenitions but they are ate /etc/conf.d/net and worked fine until mac changing option.

are you able to get IP? is this DHCP? have you asked administrator of network you are connecting to? I've never used any special software to change mac, just
Code:
ifconfig [interface] hw ether [new_mac]

The IP addressing of the network is static basis. The administrator is a jackass, it's better to just stuck my head in a door and try seing the light of network God ;)
Even so using ifconfig i'm getting the same problem.

hmm.. changing mac back to the previously working one allows you to connect? It looks like that jackass blocks you... you may try to discover working MACs and use curently not used ones. Do you really HAVE TO change mac?

I doubt that... Because i'm DC to the switch (an old 10mbps) in front of me and I can't ping local computers getting "Destination Host Unreachable" when using the crafted mac addr.
If by really you meen as an experiment for common knowledge, than yes... But the main reason is not only myself but other's who may encounter the same problem and may really need (for something else than knowledge).
