Hi! I'm having a problem with my HP StorageWorks DAT 72. I installed it more than one year ago, but I've got aware of this only now, because my backup does not fit in the tape anymore.
I use dump to backup a 65GB ext2 partition that is 72% full (that means about 46GB of data). Now I see that "tapeinfo -f /dev/sg0" says:
Code: |
Product Type: Tape Drive
Vendor ID: 'HP '
Product ID: 'C7438A '
Revision: 'V312'
Attached Changer: No
SerialNumber: '0005053234'
MinBlock:1
MaxBlock:16777215
SCSI ID: 5
SCSI LUN: 0
Ready: yes
BufferedMode: yes
Medium Type: Not Loaded
Density Code: 0x47
BlockSize: 0
DataCompEnabled: yes
DataCompCapable: yes
DataDeCompEnabled: yes
CompType: 0x20
DeCompType: 0x0
Block Position: 576811
|
The backup fails at about 89% for reaching the tape end. The backup is estimated in about 44 million blocks. My backup is not software compressed. May I have an issue on hardware compression? Does the line
Code: | DataCompEnabled: yes |
mean that hardware compression is surely on? Why my 40GB backup does not fit in the 72GB tape?
Does anyone have any idea?
Thank-you.
