Well after really hours on setting up the mail to work, now I'm going to change the mail location. It now goes to $HOME/.maildir that's not what I want.

I have a partition mounted to /storage/mail with a folder boxes. In that folder (or in /storage/mail) I want subfolders. One for each user. Making them won't be a problem, if I'm right that should be mkmaildir ....

What config files (imap, imapd, postfix) do I need to change to do that. In my main.cf there is a line home_mailbox. Using http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man1/postfix.1.html I can't really figure it out.

Besides that I have fetch mail fecthing mail passing it to procmailrc (in /etc). If I understand my setting right I need to change that for the filtering and not my alias files. For I don't want the users to run fetchmail (and they don't have the knowledge to do so). For that I can use http://www.die.net/doc/linux/man/man1/procmail.1.html and subpages.

Any tips? And is it tricky to add spamassin and clam av with my setup?

Well I'm puzzeling along again.

If I edit the /etc/courier-imap/imapd file to contain these lines (originals are commented):
Code:
##NAME: MAILDIRPATH:0
#
# MAILDIRPATH - directory name of the maildir directory.
#
MAILDIRPATH=Maildir
#MAILDIRPATH=/storage/mail/boxes

#Hardwire a value for ${MAILDIR}
MAILDIR=.maildir
MAILDIRPATH=.maildir
#MAILDIR=/$USER/.maildir
#MAILDIRPATH=/$USER/.maildir

I can login (of course after maildirmake root and maildirmake ekoster, the last as that user). But is my mail realy there? I can't see mail with dir .maildir/new so what is wrong? I the default I can.

The other thing I'm working on is my procmailrc file at this time stored in /etc:
Code:
# Use maildir-style mailbox in user's home directory
MAILDIR_ROOT=/root/.maildir/
MAILDIR_EDGAR=/home/ekoster/.maildir/
#
## Begin recipes
#
:0
* ^To:.*mobile\@something\.net
$MAILDIR_ROOT

:0
* ^To:.*edgar\@something\.net
$MAILDIR_EKOSTER

Please help answer these questions:

1. If I make a subfolder in the client (e.g. squirrelmail) where is it going in my folder structure? I can't see it in the .maildir

2. Why is it if I alter the mail location (as described above) and I ensure a mail is to be fetched, after restarting fetchmail an .maildir is created in /root where the new message is stored instead of /storage/mail/boxes/root/

That's it for now. I want this working then its spam and av time...
