Hoping someone can help with this.

I recently ran some updates through emerge (it had been a while...). This included baselayout amongst many things.

Now, at boot I get errors about domainname starting up. If I try to start it manually I get this:

Code:
# /etc/init.d/domainname start
checkroot hostname
 * ERROR:  Some services needed are missing.  Run
 *         './domainname broken' for a list of those
 *         services.  domainname was not started.
# /etc/init.d/domainname status
 * status:  stopped
#

If I do the './domainname broken' it just lists checkroot and hostname. These are both running fine as far as I can tell! Searching around I can't find anyone else who has had this problem.

domainname is set to start at boot (as verified with 'rc-update show').

What is going on..?!?

Any help appreciated. Thanks,

I have now. Restarted, but no difference...

The odd thing is, as far as I can tell, all my networking is fine.

At the same time as this happened, I also have trouble with 'ivman'. (ivman is complaining about hald not being present, but hald is running fine). I don't know if these two problems are related, but thought I'd mention it.

I've got /etc/init.d/domainname, but "equery belongs /etc/init.d/domainname" finds nothing. I think it should be in baselayout, but "equery files baselayout" doesn't find it either. Anyone know if this should be a bug? Thanks,
Fred

From baselayout's changelog:
Quote:
09 Apr 2006;
baselayout-1.12.0_pre17.ebuild:
Physically remove the domainname init script and warn the user about how to
configure /etc/conf.d/net to get similar functionality, #129248.

Upgrading to:
Code:
sys-apps/baselayout-1.12.0_pre17-r2

has fixed the problem with domainname...
:D
Thanks for the help...
