Java GNOME taskbar anoyance EDIT: added screenshot

This is nothing more than a superficial anoyance but it is irritating me. Any java aoolications I have installed (phex, Jstudio, qnext) all simply say java in the taskbar instead of the title. I wrote a simple test program to see if it was a class missing but my app which does nothing but create a window with a title set works fine. I have been searching all night and have come up empty handed. In case it makes a difference, I am running ~amd64. Any ideas what may be causing this are appreciated, thank you.
