ok so I'm trying to setup a raid 5 array of 6 200Gb HDs, 3 of them are empty the other three are full so I understand that I'll need to raid 5 the first three together and then add the other drives on as I copy stuff across.
I've run the evmsgui program and converted the three 'compatibility' drives into evms volumes whatever that means but when I try to create anything (segment, container...) evmsgui just brings up an empty window of things to select which isnt very useful. I can see the raid5 region plugin in the list of plugins so why wont it let me use it? |

ok I realised my mistake, I had to delete the compatibility volumes and then i was able to create a raid5 region out of the disks which i have added to an lvm2 region ontop of which i now have an ext3 fs... now i just need to work out how i add another disk into the raid5 region |
