I have installed gentoo sucessfully and have a working dual boot with Win XP. However, my wireless PCI card (Foxconn WLL-3350 PCI) was not detected or configured. I researched and found that I need rt2500 drivers. I did emerge --pretend and found out what I need, and tried to do the emerge on another VM Gentoo (diffirent HW, host is Win XP) but some files are missing. I did emerge --sync, portage update (on the VM Gentoo) and --pretend now comes up with a different set of files, that are available for rt2500. I do not know how to go about moving the new drivers to my gentoo install given that my portage is outdated and does not have the new files, and the old files are no longer available. Without a working internet connection, I am really stuck. Help please

If you have a CD burner in the computer with internet access (or any other form of removable media which the internet-less computer can read) simply download a portage snapshot (or /usr/portage minus the distfiles) and burn it. Then replace the one on the old computer and you should be set. |
