Niby wszystko jest na forach opisane - ale dalej nie bardzo wiem jak problem mam rozwiązać - więc wybaczcie ten post ale potrzebuję wsparcia bardziej doświadczonych użytkowników, ale do rzeczy:
Z góry zaznaczam, że nie dzieje się tak zawsze ale kiedy zamykam X-y, wylogowuje użytkownika lub wykonuje xdm restart to w efekcie mam zwis systemu - no może nie do końca bo system można czasami zamknąć przyciskiem shutdown. Objawy są następujące, iż widze na ekranie ciemność. Nie mogę sie przełączać pomiędzy konsolami ,ale na shutdown czasami reaguje i się zamyka. Przeszperałem fora i tego typu bag jest opisany wielokrotnie ale żadne z rozwiązań nie zadziałało dotychcas u mnie. Próbowałem zmieniać jądra o to jakie były efekty:
1. Gentoo-Sources 2.6.14 (TUTAJ NASTĘPOWAŁO JEDYNIE WYJŚCIE Z XOW I NIE MOŻNOŚĆ ICH PONOWNEGO URUCHOMIENIA)
2. Gentoo-sources 2.6.15 od r1 do r5 zwis opisany powyżej
3. Nitro-r3 czasami zwis powodował dodatkowo wyświetlenie "tęczy" na ekranie mojego laptopa
Zgodnie ze znalezionymi na forum postami - próbowałem zmieniać wersję sterowników ATI nie pomagało.
Moja aktualną konfiguracja to karta ATI Radeon 9600 mobility na sterownikach wersji 8.22.5, Modularny X.org 7.0 (moduły aktualizowane regularnie), moduły agpgart i intel-agp (zakładam, że taki powinien być przy Centrino) oraz fglrx ładowane podczas uruchamiania systemu
Jestem przekonany, że nie jest to problem menadżera logowania bo testowałem zarówno Gnome i KDE z gdmem i kdmem efekty bez zmian.
Na gentoo-portage znalazłem buga dla gentoo-sources:

Tyle, że nie wiem co z tym mam zrobić, jądro spatchować? Jak? Jakieś How-To dla lamera 
Innych rozwiązań nie znalazłem reszta postów na ten temat mi nie pomogła - te propozycje się nie sprawdzają lub nie są satysfakcjonujące (no splash no dri itp.)

Jeśli ten fix lkml pomaga to podpowiedzcie co z tym co tam jest napisane mam zrobić.

Tak poza konkursem jak widzicie tu coś co można poprawić a nie jest związane z tematem też będę wdzięczny za sugestie. Cała konfiguracja Xow było robiona toczka w toczkę z handbookiem.

Mialem dokladnie ten sam problem. Wina lezy tylko i wylacznie w nieszczesnych sterach ATI i obsludze radeonfb. Jesli masz wlaczona w kernelu obsluge framebuffera dla radeonow to jest to na 99% wina tego. Rozwiazania sa dwa:
1 Zaladowac stery w wersju nie nowszej jak 8.14.13-r5
2 Wylaczyc obsluge radeonfb w kernelu i uzywac vesafb
Ja polecam rozwiazanie drugie ,gdyz poza obsluga framebuffera na niektorym kartqach ,stery sprawuja sie bardzo dobrze.
Jest zdecydowana poprawa wydajnosci w porownaniu z wersja stabilna.

A ten patch bo jak mniemam chodzi tu o spachowanie jądra, testowałeś?

Nie chciał się ładować moduł fglrx na jądrze 2.6.15-r1. Ponowny upgrade po wcześnijszym odpaleniu fglrxconfiga spowodował kernel panic - dobrze, że miałem zapasowy xorg.conf bo zrobiło mi się gorąco.

Wywaliłem radeonfb nie pomogło, wywaliłem obsługe frembuffera w ogóle - bez zmian - przy wylogowaniu system się "zamraża" mam czarny ekranik ale shutdown z guzika lub restart za pomocą salutu trzech króli działa. W opisie buga do którego link zamieściłem powyżej ludzie piszą, że przejście do xorga 6.8.x sterów 8.14.x i jądra 2.6.14 pomaga ale baaaardzo chciałbym tego uniknąć - może ktoś ma jeszcze jakiś pomysł.

działa - serwer się restartuje i nie ma zwisów grafiki - Dzięks daje solved!

Nic - a uwaga jest nieaktualna była w oddzielnym poscie i dotyczyla usunięcia frambuffera "at all". Jak się okazło nie miało to związku z problemem i właśnie przywracam vese-fb na której działałem od początku - szukając rozwiązania chwytałem się różnych pomysłów.
U mnie update sterów nie pomógł - co napisałem.
