HEllo,
After rebooting the system, it works pretty fast.
But, if I do not reboot the system for 2 weeks, it really goes very slow
(even closing all current applications).
What could cause this behaviour?
What can I do to prevent this (other than booting the system every day)?
Regards,

It depend on what you are doing during that time. If you are using cpu 100% all over it will be slow. Try maybe disable swap, cool it with "fresh air" |

You mean to call "swapoff -a" and then "swapon -a" again?
I'll try in 2 weeks and let you know
anyway, is this behaviour normal?
and a server machine, running an intensive webserver + database,
how do they prevent this? |

I meant if you have a lot of ram memory then swap is not needed. |

But you should not disable swap if you can spare disk space, swap is needed if you run out of memory.
Why would having a swap partition slow down the computer anyway? It isn't like it will be used if you have enough RAM. _________________ "There will be more joy in heaven over the tear-bathed face of a repentant sinner than over the white robes of a hundred just men." (LM, 114) |
