I completed the set up of the Official Gento Torrent Tracker earlier today. We released 2006.0 at 7pm EST and the Tracker was the first official way to get Gentoo-2006.0 including the experimental FreeBSD snapshots. We also have some videos of the installer available.
In it's first 4 hours the torrent server reports 136GB of data transferred. Get it while it's hot!

Gentoo doesn't care about versions.
If you already have an older livecd that works with your NIC then use that to install gentoo. |

None that I can see. I just ran reports and we have about 1500 connected torrents with no reported errors. What torrent client are you using and what version is it? _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |

MLDonkey 2.7.3
BitTorrent seems to work fine, I just downloaded a Ubuntu Dapper testing live-CD. It came with light speed. |

I haven't had any other reports of not being able to connect. I suggest you look at your settings a little more closely. Start with your firewall. Make sure mldonkey is reporting the correct IP address. _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |

Okay, I just discovered the problem.
For some reason, Privoxy was blocking access to the tracker URL. The whole Gentoo website passes fine, but not this place.
I had to add ".gentoo.org" to the section "{fragile}" in /etc/privoxy/user.action
Thanks for the help, however |

Hi
I seem to be having a problem with the tracker now. I was seeding all torrents without any issues, but when I went to check on it today all them are giving the following error "This tracker does not support your client version.".
I am using rtorrent 0.4.5/libtorrent 0.8.5.
did this client get banned for some reason?
thanks

jwestfall,
try it now. I turned on client filtering but I have had to many reports from people using supported clients getting errors that I turned it off. _________________ Gentoo: it's like wiping your ass with silk. |
