update to mysql5 =>php doesnt anymore communicate with mysql

Hiho @all,

i am currently having a big problem ...

my apache2-server doesnt anymore communicate with my new mysql5 - which i emerged some hours ago.

mysql5 does function, i tested it with the "mysql"-command - i can get the names of the databases ("mysql","test", etc.). but if i want to connect to php with the mysql_connect("localhost","username","passwd"); command, nothing does function anymore - everytime i want to open a php document with that command in it, i get a 0-byte-file sent back to the browser. nothing in it. no error. but nothing - even the normal html-source has gone ... i really dont know what to do..

do you know where the problem is? do i have to say my php that it has to communicate with mysql5 now? (in a configuration file?) - with mysql4 everything did function.. so it has to function with mysql5 too - hasnt it to?

okay, everything solved. after a re-emerge of php everything functions again.

In the future, try revdep-rebuild (from gentoolkit) first. It's designed to resolve exactly these problems.
