I'm trying to get pata to work with my via sata controller; VIA apparently has a patch out there but I can't find it for anything except an SRPM for Fedora. Can I use it?
controller - vt6421
kernel - 2.6.14.3
patch - http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=15&CatID=1830&SubCatID=117
i don't have much experience with rpms in gentoo; please let me know if this is an option...
thanks in advance |

masteroftheuniverse,
The download contains a binary driver for a Fedora kernel 2.6.11 which is no use and a source code patch, also against 2.6.11.
If you can apply the source code patch cleanly, its worth trying.
Are you sure its not already in later vanillia kernels ? _________________ Regards,

thanks for the input.
well, the problem seems to be that the pata part of the chipset is not supported (as of 2.6.14.3). i suppose i could go to 2.6.15 and see what happens. but i'll try that patch first. |
