2006.0 LiveCD install barfs on emerge slocate

In particular, it displays the same problem mentioned on http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_Gentoo_-_The_Gentoo_Developers_Method_with_NPTL_and_2.6_from_Stage1 i.e. that there's already an slocate group, and I should run

groupmod -n locate slocate

I indeed see an slocate group in /etc/group under the LiveCD. Is emerge confusing that with what will be /etc/group on the installed system?

I will proceed by running groupmod and then rerunning the installer (and oy, do I hope that it can avoid re-emerging all the stuff that successfully emerged the first time), and if that fails, I will run the installer and not check off slocate, leaving slocate to be emerged after the install.
