|
|
currently running kernel 2.6.15 w/ ati drivers v8.18.8-r2, on 64bit platform. i have tried using mplayer-bin, gmplayer-bin, totem. i cannot get any video playback on mpeg2/4, avi, dvd, wmv, or anything else for that matter, however audio works fine.
ive been searching for quite a while for any possible solution, but it seems like the 'no audio only video' problem dominates. nautilus shows movie thumbnails in browser.

Does it show a video window at all? If it does, it's a matter of output driver selection (mplayer -vo help for a list). If it doesn't, you must be missing the codecs. What are your use flags for mplayer? equery u mplayer gives a nice list with descriptions. _________________ PKA Cuber

Emerge gentoolkit to get equery and lots of other useful gentoo-specific tools.
You can try different output drivers with mplayer -vo [driver]. I use xv, but it might not work for you. Try it and the gl-drivers (and maybe sdl and whatever else you want to try).
Doesn't mplayer output any error messages if you run it from a console? _________________ PKA Cuber

No problem
EDIT: You might want to add [SOLVED] to the subject. It helps others when searching. _________________ PKA Cuber
