|
|
I followed the steps on how to sync my zaurus with qtopia and get it connected thru usb. The usb connection works fine, I can ping my zaurus from pc and vice versa. I installed qtopia desktop qtopia-desktop-1.6.0-1.i386.rpm with rpm -ivh --nodeps qtopia*.rpm but that didn't work. I was getting some error message and it would never come up. So then I installed qtopia-desktop-1.6.0beta2-1.i386.rpm. This worked right away except that the sync option is grayed out. I checked the setting and the ip address of zaurus is correct. I tried it through USB with ip and Locan Net with IP, nothing works. Qtopia opens but can't find/connect to my Zaurus.
Please help, I have having to boot to windows 98 just to resync. What am I missing, everything is connected and pingable, I can even transfer files with ftp but no qtopia sync. Am I missing some library files?
Thanks in advance. |

However, what I just found is that by experimenting with the order operations: cradle, uncradle, running the bash script to bring up net.usb0, starting the qtopiadesktop, etc. I eventually had a connected qtopiadesktop that I was able to successfully sync with.
However, since I still haven't discovered the proper order, you'll have to do some of your own discovering... _________________ For me, to pursue social justice is to liberate as many computers as possible from the tyranny of Microsoft. |

As I was about to burn a Mandrake 9.1 cd qtopia connected to my zaurus, I was so happy, until I started syncing. The progress bar would come up and then get stuck a second later and I could not ping the zaurus anymore. I tried it several times with no avail, it keeps locking up during sync and disconnecting my zaurus. Once I replace it it's ok until I try to sync.
What could that be? |

Just to see if it will work, I tried the same setup on Mancrake 9.1, it worked right away. Internet connectivity on the zaurus through USB cradle works, and syncing with qtopia works almost perfectly (for some reason I can't do sync all, maybe because of openzaurus?). I guess it's because of a newer kernel, 2.4.21. I'll see if I can load that kernel on gentoo and give it a shot then. |

You might have quite a lot of problems finding the 2.4.21 kernel since it is not ready yet. The kernel that goes by this name in Mandrake 9.1 is in fatc a custom Kernel based on pre5+ kernel patch for the vunerability discovered last week+ acpi tweak.
I think the closer you can get from this kernel(on kernel.org) is 2.4.21 pre6. You may also try to save Mandrake kernel somewhere and compile it under Gentoo, but that sound a little bit dangerous for the stability of your system.

emerge ac-sources - worked out of the box by enabling the usbnet driver.

ac-sources work great with my zaurus, but I lost supermount and auto power off. Supermount is not there in ac-sources? |

Am not sure about supermount.
auto poweroff still works, but you need to enable an extra option,
under ACPI tick ACPI bus or something similar.
edit:
nonsense, sorry it is indeed missing something, neither acpi nor apm work at runtime even tho they compile...
