Hi
I'm running a gentoo shell server with some users on it. At the moment I've configured the system to use Unicode:
/etc/conf.d/consolefont
Code: |
CONSOLEFONT="default8x16"
CONSOLETRANSLATION="8859-1_to_uni"
|
/etc/rc.conf
/etc/env.d/02locale
Code: |
LANG="en_US.utf8"
LANGUAGE="en_US.utf8"
LC_ALL="en_US.utf8"
|
My problems are:
* centericq doesn't display unicode characters correctly.
* ssh from the putty-windows client doesn't display correctly.
* some people use aterms, their display is completely fucked up.
* in mlterm ncurses borders are fucked up.
My questions:
* Is there a way to disable unicode for these people?
* How can I disable unicode on the whole system?
I have to say I'm totally despaired.

Have compiled everything with 'unicode' flag?
PS: avoid using expressions like 'f...ed up' even if you are upset _________________ Microsoft is not the answer, Microsoft is the question, the answer is no. |

@f***: You're right, sorry. Bad day .
I've solved it in the meantime: The issue with centericq is a centericq-bug, Putty had the wrong charset set, and people with aterms cannot use unicode at all.
thank you anyway

nice
aterm: there is only flag cjk ("adds support for Multi-byte character languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)")
however it seems that you're right - no real utf-8 support for now _________________ Microsoft is not the answer, Microsoft is the question, the answer is no. |
