Hallo zusammen,
habe letztens wieder gentoo auf meinem Notebook eingespielt. Läuft auch soweit fast ohne Probleme.
vesafg-tng läuft und X auch. Nur wenn ich bspw. von X über Strg+Alt+1 auf eine Konsole wechsel, dann
wird diese irgendwie "zerstört". D.h am linken Rand sieht man dann die ersten Buchstaben immer doppelt.
Wenn ich dann auf X zurückschalte, kann man das Bild nicht mehr erkennen. Selbiges tritt auch auf, wenn ich
den Laptop aus dem Standbymodus zurückhole und bei herunterfahren des Laptops auch.
Hat da vielleicht jemand eine Idee, woran das liegen könnte, und wie man das Problem vielleicht beseitigen kann?

Äh, was für eine Grafikkarte hast du und welche Treiber verwendest du? Beim radeon-Treiber könntest du z.B. mal mit diesen Einstellungen rumspielen:

Moin,
ist ein älterer Laptop mit einer S3 Savage Grafikkarte.
Wenn ich bspw. XFCE4 beende, welchselt er ja zu GDM zurück, dort ist dann entweder
auch schon das Bild zerstört, oder man kann nichts mehr machen.
Noch jemand eine Idee?

ich hab seit geraumer zeit auch probleme mit dem vesafb-tng. ich konnte nicht mehr von X auf die consolen wechseln. bekam immer nur eine "falscher video modus" zu sehen. habe gestern mal den vesafb-tng rausgeschmissen und den kernel mit vesafb neu kompiliert, danach funktionierte es auch wieder. alles sehr sehr merkwürdig
woran kann sowas liegen? am vesafb-tng driver? an der grafikkarte? am nvidia driver? an einer Konfiguration? am Kernel?
habe schon mehrere Kernel mit dem gleichen Ergebnis durchprobiert. Grub die verschiedensten boot parameter mitgegeben, aber alles ohne erfolg.

Vielleicht teste ich das heute abend auch nochmal mit dem normalen vesafb.
Kann sein, das vielleicht die Hardware da irgendwie nicht mitspielt.
Kannst du mir mal sagen, wie deine grub.conf Zeile aussieht, für den Videomodus.
Und kann ich eigentlich auch die Splashutils mit vesafb benutzen, oder muss ich dann
wieder auf bootsplash umsteigen?
