|
|
I recently tried to install and configure ALSA for dmix use, and when i set it up originally it was fine, but after restarting, i get no sound at all, despite amarok playing the file, so it can use the xine engine and the alsa modules.
After investigating what modules needed to be started, i found that the computer has duplicate modules for
snd
snd-pcm
snd-timer
snd-mixer-oss
snd-pcm-oss
snd-page-alloc (im not sure if this is needed or not)
ive also tried to restart alsa to apply any module changes, and every time it fails to stop as it cant unload the modules.
im guessing that it might be the cause of the problem if the computer is loading the wrong modules and alsa is telling the software to use others, but im not sure
is there any way to specify in the /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel file which modules to load specifically or is that handled somewhere else
thanks

systemsamurai,
The module loading for alsa is controlled by your /etc/modules.d/alsa file.
Each alias line specifies a module to use and will load it if its not already loaded.
Read the instructions at the top of the file.
To be able to unload modules, you need module unloading support in your kernel.
Its a full kernel rebuild to add it. _________________ Regards,
