|
|
I am trying out the dscape driver since I couldn't get softmac to work on all the WPA AP's I communicate with. I emerged the vanilla 2.6.16-rc4 kernel. Downloaded ftp://ftp.bu3sch.de/bcm43xx-snapshots/all-in-one/bcm43xx-dscape/bcm43xx-dscape-060303__forlinux2.6.16-rc4__.patch.bz2. Did a patch -p1 <bcm43xx-dscape-060303__forlinux2.6.16-rc4__.patch added both "Generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack (dscape)" and "Broadcom BCM43xx wireless support (DeviceScape stack)" but upon reboot I get panic. I thought maybe it was just a funky patch so I tried to patch the kernel with an older patch. After doing that things didn't look too pretty so I unmerge the vanilla-sources and removed the /usr/src/linux-2.6.16-r4 dir and then reemerged it. I then grabbed the patch from the day before and patched the kernel. I am still getting a kernel panic on boot. A lot of the panic output goes by really quickly so I can't write it all up and don't know how else to grab it because it doesn't dump a core or write it in the logs.
Here are some snippetts
Code: | Unable to handle kernel paging request for data at address 0x0000008
Faulting Instruction address: 0xc00a5438
Ooops: Kernel access of bad area, sig 11 [#1]
Modules linked in:
NIP: C00A5438 LR: C00a56788 CTR: 0000000
|
then their is a Call Trace: that mentions
Code: |
[EFFC3FC0] [C05AE370] bcm43xx_init+0x2c/0x3c |
Then there is a long Instruction Dump
Has anybody patched 2.6.16-rc4 with dscape? If so what patch from ftp://ftp.bu3sch.de/bcm43xx-snapshots/all-in-one/bcm43xx-dscape/ did you use?
Is there a way I can capture the kernel panic output, like redirecting stderr to a file or something similar?
Thanks,
Nick |

I unmerged the vanilla sources. Then re-emerged it and applied this patch
and everything worked (as far as kernel loading, still working on wireless). |
