Beat me to the post. So far, this game does certainly look intriguing. I'll be keeping my eye on it, but the first noise I hear about "monthly subscription," I'll stop being interested. _________________

It looks like a Black&White on steroids. And I bet you they are going to slap a "Only on Windows Vista" onto the box, and make sure you pay an arm and a leg (no pun intended) just to play. Props on the game though, definately revolutionary work in graphics and engine. _________________ Mayhem G4 (Asus z71v) |

And what's so great about Lugaru2?
I've always wanted another game where you can evolve things and move up through evolution/civilization/planetary exploration. The whole "Procedurally Generated" concept is awesome, as is the downloading of other players' content asynchronously. The amount of freedom in this game is impressive and will surely provide many hours of fun. The only downfall I can see is the AI. |

Yeah, this game looks quite cool. Is it a "comeback" of Maxis ?

Meh... I'll start "can't waiting" when we get the word on a linux client. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

I know this is supposed to be a primarily linux games forum, but I don't think we should be judging the game based on whether or not they release a linux client, considering there is a tiny, tiny market.
It looks like an awesome GAME, non-existant linux client be damned. Look at WoW. Look at HL2. Civ IV. |

That'd be like saying that an engine is so fucking amazing... but there are no fuels to power it. If it's no good to me, why should I care?
I never said the game was better or worse for it, I said I just ain't gonna get hyped over it until I know I can play it. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

You're right. If there's no Linux client, there's nothing to judge.

I'm afraid I can't, as the companies responsible have not yet managed to release a version I am capable of running on my computer. |

I'm with all the other guys on a Linux Client. I BET you they will have a Mac client, so why not put the effort in a make a Linux binary client. If they structured their development around knowing they will developing for 3 platforms, then it wouldn't be hard. They spend millions on development, and they can't make a linux client, pointless.
If they can't make one directly, work with Wine to make it compatible.
Companies will earn A LOT of brownie points if they release a linux client. They will also get loyalist because they know the next game will have a linux client. _________________ Mayhem G4 (Asus z71v) |

yeah, i'm starting to feel bad for mac actually, at least when companies port thier games to linux they spend some time on it, a lot of the mac ports are missing things left and right and not polished at all
I't does look like a kick ass game. But if theres not tux client, theres no way ima be able to play it. No way i'm gonna buy it. |

Some of us don't mind code not bieng GPL. As far as I'm concerned... GPL is nice... especially for required software... but I can live without open code when it comes to my games. I'd rather _NOT_ have to worry about what is going on in that engine... it's a freaking game... it's supposed to help me unwind and help me relax after coding. If I wanted to hack an engine... I'd be all over cube, or it's successor... or evne quake 3. _________________ CPU: 3800+ X2 (2.5Ghz)

I'm sure a lot of game developers would love to make linux clients, it's the studios or producers who don't care and push push push for an earlier release date.
All I'm saying is, don't bash it because it doesn't have a linux client. I don't have a mac, I still talk about and praise mac software. I don't just say, eh, it doesn't matter because I can't run it. I study human computer interaction, so things like UI design and multimedia interest me. I'm a gamer, so innovative, fun looking, and awesome games interest me. Obviously you guys care more about how free it is and whether or not you can play it out of the box than to discuss it. That's fine, but posting just to say, "I'll pass" is not relevant nor does it add anything. That's like a windows user saying, "I'll pass", on a cool mac widget.
WoW and Civ IV and HL2, all of those were impossible to play on linux but cedega now makes it possible. But I guess that's not free either so who cares? I'd like to see any game under the GPL to come even close to Spore in gameplay. Fact is, I probably won't. |

This game looks awsome, have been following it for the last 2odd years. When it is hooked up to the net it uses other ppls creatures to seed your universe, they dont get to act in yrs, its just he comp needs some new creatres (when you get to galactic control then you interact with otehr ppls planets)
Its a shame Windows-only, bloody EA-games. BUT if a MAC version does come out and it is x86-MAC there may be hope.... _________________
