I got Ati Radeon X 300 SE PCI Ex. I ve recompiled the kernel, and then emerge ati-drivers, and also did fglrxconfig to make xorg.conf. fglrx module is loaded. But when i start my X , it shows error, it seems that the hardware is not detected. dmesg shows the display card is detected. Anything wrong with my card? |

Maybe your ATI card is not supported by the ATI-driver that you are using.
The ati-drivers supported by emerge were rather old, previously 8.14.13-r3.
The ati-driver 8.21.7-r1 became stable. A big step from 8.14. It solved my problem with X550 and even direct rendering works.
If nothing helps the kernel delivered VESA driver works fine. But having a modern PCIE card in the computer and not using its features can not be the goal.
