|
|
I have a server box set up which does various things (acts as a gateway for example). I want arpwatch and other programs to be able to send emails to my real e-mail address (the account for which is not hosted on the server).
I've never set up a mail server before - what do I need to know, and can someone point me to some resources on how I should go about choosing software and setting this up? Resources I've found so far seem too complicated or tailored for a scenario different to mine.
Note that I really couldn't care less about recieving mail on the server, and no other computer on this server's network needs to be able to send mail through it.
Thanks. |

If you've got access to a SMTP-server you could use ssmtp.
If not you've got to setup your own smtpserver.
I used this guide. |

Ok, I think I've correctly set up ssmtp.
How can I test that arpwatch can send email? |
