Could you post the result of "emerge -pv cyrus-sasl" so we can see what USE flags are set? And "emerge --info" would be helpful as well.

Also, do you have sys-libs/db installed?

emerg -pv cyrus-sasl

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

[ebuild R ] dev-libs/cyrus-sasl-2.1.20 -authdaemond +berkdb -gdbm +java -kerberos -ldap -mysql +pam -postgres +ssl -static 0 kB

Total size of downloads: 0

emerge -pv syslibs/db:

[ebuild R ] sys-libs/db-4.2.52_p2-r1 -bootstrap -doc +java -nocxx -tcltk 0 kB

I have done a emerge --deep world -newuse
First try resulted in a compile error at cyrus-sasl (It did an update of portage and kdebase), second try too, and the third time the emerge of cyrus-sasl was sucessfull(?).

This problem only occurs if I do a emerge --newuse --deep world. And only during the first try of emerge --newuse --deep world.
The second try is sucessfull - no error occurs (the compilation starts with cyrus-sasl).

I'm not sure from what you posted -- did something else that cyrus-sasl depends on get compiled with changed USE flags on the first try, and then cyrus-sasl succeeded on the second?
