My firefox and nautilus keep freezing on random occassion. I don't know what causes it, but they both freeze without any error output in the terminal. revdep-rebuild has no effect, neither does recompiling. I've deleted the /home config folders for both, but I get the same problem.

No, it's not, and as it turns out, it's not just firefox. nautilus is doing this also. Recompiling doesn't help, neither does removing the config folders in home (.mozilla) help. Rebooting is the only way I've seen to fix this, and other users seem to be affected by this, although to a much lesser degree.

Are you running amd64?

amd64 or not, may I suggest using the precompiled (*-bin) ebuilds?

I don't know about nautilus, but I know firefox-bin works well.

No, I'm on x86. Pentium M. mozilla-firefox-bin worked fine, but then this problem started to happen, and I thought I'd use mozilla-firefox. I get the same behavior, no change at all.

Well, from what I've heard, Pentium M's are nothing but trouble with gentoo. I would update everything ("emerge --sync && emerge -uav world"), or if you've recently changed your USE variables, make the params '-uavN'. Check the handbook's portage update section in the Updating Your System section for more information.
