|
|
Hi everybody.
I've just installed new Gentoo (2006.0) on my second HDD.
Some changes from before installation:
* GCC 4.0.2-r3 instead of deprecated 4.0.2-r1
* More newest packages.
But i've installed the same KDE (3.5.0) from the same ebuild (from portage overlay) and what have i seen?
1) In KMenu is new position called "Setting". Why? I've installed old KDE. There wasn't it before.
2) I've installed Lipstik style and Crystal Windows Decoration. Then I rebooted KDE and... there's no crystalgl and lipstik in KDE Control Center. I can't choose it :/
What's the matter?
What have i made wrong?
Please help. _________________ Asio Software Technologies

The settings menu could be saved in your home directory.
You don't have to reboot to see new themes/decorations in kde. I see them right after emerging.
Type
ls /usr/lib64/kde3/plugins/styles/
is lipstik there?
then
ls /usr/lib64/kde3/kwin3*
is crystal there? |

Code: | [root]::[PECET]/# ls /usr/lib64/kde3/plugins/styles/
lipstik.la lipstik.so
[root]::[PECET]/# ls /usr/lib64/kde3/kwin3*
/usr/lib64/kde3/kwin3_crystal.la /usr/lib64/kde3/kwin3_crystal.so |
1) I also installed nuvola icons but I can't choose it too.
I installed Beep Media Player. It's in KMenu, but it hasn't got icon and I can't find bmp's icon in Shortcut Options.
2) There's no Setting menu in my home dir.
3) I've already had this problem and I formatted partition. Then I've installed new Gentoo and this problem occures now too.
4) I have old Gentoo on my second HDD. I have MP3s on it. In BMP folders are sorted:
*Alex
*Blue Saracenos
*~Other
*Prodigy
but on new Gentoo, where this problems occure they are sorted:
*~Other
*Alex
*Blue Saracenos
*Prodigy
5) In Kadu (Instant Messanger - Polish GG Protocol) working Gentoo doesn't differentiate small and big letters, so contacts are sorted:
*Alex
*ann
*Ben
But in new Gentoo sorting is different:
*Alex
*Ben
*ann
What's wrong?
EDIT:
I've seen, that I can't launch any software from KDE Menu => Run option, that's not KDE Software.
I wanted to run qtconfig.
So I launched Konsole and writed qtconfig.
Then in "Library Paths" I've added path to "/usr/lib64/kde3/plugins" and now i can select Lipstik style.
But what about icons, window decorations and KDE Run menu option? _________________ Asio Software Technologies

I can't help you. I don't know what is wrong. Maybe someone else know what is the problem.
Maybe you could check if the /etc/ld.so.conf is ok, but it's very strange that this happened in a fresh install. Maybe its osmething with the use flags, a different codepage could cause different sorting? or is that just in mysql |

I've got a "pre" version too.
Code: | $emerge -pv baselayout
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild U ] sys-apps/baselayout-1.12.0_pre16-r3 [1.12.0_pre16-r1] USE="-bootstrap -build -static -unicode" 0 kB
Total size of downloads: 0 kB |
Try upgrading everything to the lastest. Maybe it will help. |

hmm...
I have 2006.0 ~amd64 profile.
And I'm also using -* packages.
Which version of GCC GLIBC QT and KDE do you have? _________________ Asio Software Technologies
