Hi all,
I have ben trying to follow the XFree86 Font de-uglification howto. I got to the section on truetype (http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/mini/FDU/truetype.html), then ran into a problem. It says to add a line to XF86config pointing to the truetype directory. Then copy all the *.ttf files into that dir. All this went ok.
I do:
# ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale
# mkfontdir
In the truetype font dir, and both run without errors. I restart xfs (which sees the truetype dir) and then startx.
Then I do:
$ xlsfonts | less
It should list all the fonts avalible to the system. If I do:
$ xlsfonts | grep verdna
It returns no fonts. I know there is a verdna.ttf inside the truetype dir. Can anyone tell me what's going on? |

I had the same problems, the fonts would appear in I think Mozilla but not OpenOffice for instance..
Besides that, I noticed while building X that a couple of .exe files are also downloaded, on of which is named Verdana, one would think it would be installed somewhere, rendering manual installation obsolete? |

Easy, the font name is Verdana. Since you typed it twice here as Verdna, I'm pretty sure that is your mistake. |
