mplayer not able to resume playing after xscreensaver ...

More precisely : I press space key to pause mplayer, I wait for xscreensaver to launch itself, then mplayer crashes when I press space key again. In other words, mplayer is not able to resume playing if xscreensaver operates while mplayer is paused ...

I have a radeon 9800, I use xorg (6.8.2-r6) and the ati-drivers (8.14.13-r3).

It is rather annoying if I want to interrupt a movie for anything longer than a few minutes :s

Any idea ? Thanks !

NOTE : it does not occur all the time ... I launched mplayer several times from a terminal to get a error message, but it worked fine ...

Have you tried disabling the screen saver while mplayer is playing? There is an option to do so in mplayer's configuration settings. Also, what Desktop are you using? In KDE, I find kaffeine to work quite well (uses the xine engine). I started using that instead of mplayer (because mplayer has always been unstable for me) and I'm very happy with it.

Yes, I have disabled the screensaver in the config mplayer file ... But this option does not disable xscreensaver while mplayer is paused.

About KDE : I am using gnome and mplayer is very stable in my case ... and I really like it ;-)
