My Asus M6BNe is based on the ICH4 chipset, and runs perfectly on the intel8x0 sound driver module. I'd be very surprised if your machine is any different.
What is the output of
'lspci' is part of the pciutils package. |

Thank you
I have chosen the only Intel PCI sound driver avaiable.
Now I just have to do 'make && make modules_install', right? |

I've done 'make && make modules_install', and now I have a 'Intel 82801DB-ICH4' in the sound mixer, but I can only hear the system bell, when I play a song in noatun, for example, it doesn't play any sound...
Help!... |

I followed this to the letter, and sound works perfectly with mixing on my M6BNe. I even copied the ~/.asoundrc verbatim. Good luck! |
