|

Hi,
Can anyone confirm that the 3ware 7006-2 ATA RAID controller is a true hardware RAID controller, so I can use it transparantly in linux?
I'm looking for a low budget RAID solution for 2 ATA133 disks to put in a RAID1, but I need to be able to dual-boot linux and windows, so the only option (if I want to use a 2.6 kernel) is a hardware-based solution.
If need be, does anyone know of other entry-level RAID controllers?
Thanks,

it is a true hardware raid controller card... but you will still need the kernel drivers to use it. itll be the same for any true hw raid controllers.
i used tons of 3ware controllers at my company... everything from the 7006-2 to the 12-port 9500 series and theyve all worked great. |

I expected that, just like SCSI RAID controllers in our servers at work.

Great to hear. Our servers are usually HP brand, so they all come with their own controller (currently MPT Fusion based). It's nice to know there's at least one manufacturer who creates true hw raid solutions at an affordable price.
Thanks again for your reply.
