My network worked properly when I was installing from the live CD.

I complied my network card directtly into the kernel. But after booting I find my NIC not working?

Maybe I did not compile the right drivers.

Ihave one dlink and an other intel nic.

During the inslaation from the live cd how i find out what nic drivers it is detecting and after compling directly into the kernel how do i find out that the drivers are really working ?

What should be the normal practice -should I complie the driver of the nic directly into the kernel or should I compile it as a module?

when I do the, cat/proc/pci

it told me I have a

VIA86C100A Rine REV 6 Nic card.

I compiled the Kernel rebooted, and My ethr0 will not start

I am almost lost......... :(

I am really amazed at how much time it is taking.... my wife can almost tell you to the minute.........

I will not lose my will to suceed.....

Is there a command to find out what is loaded at boot time from the livecd to tell me what drivers were selected... and can I just make all my mount and recompile.. or do I do every thing from step 15.2 on........ Grep?

oh yea,,, I am so noo to this I have not put the B on it

try ifconfig -a if you've compiled them into the kernel. Are you sure you have configured /etc/conf.d/net and added net.eth0 to the default-runlevel?

during install do a lsmod (list modules) to find the drivers it is using. I know intel 10/100 are eepro100
