Searching would be a really good start. Here is a thread regarding how to get this setup with one type of mouse. If you have the same kind of mouse you are in luck. If your mouse is different then some steps may differ for you. Also if you need more help specifically for your mouse try searching for an existing thread about it.

mmm..not knowing what mouse you are using isn't going to help. I have a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Pro Optical. It has 4 buttons and a scroll wheel and I use all of them :)

mmm...as for setting it all up my XF86Config looks like so:
Code:

Section "InputDevice"

    Identifier  "Mouse1"
    Driver      "mouse"
    Option      "Protocol"    "ExplorerPS/2"
    Option      "Device"      "/dev/usbmouse"
    Option      "Buttons"       "7"
    Option      "ZAxisMapping"  "6 7"
    Option      "Resolution"    "1200"
    Option      "Emulate3Buttons"       "off"

EndSection

Now, that should get things rolling as it is all I had to do...but then my scroll wheel as set as mouse three and believe me clicking your scroll wheel can get a little annoying so I remapped the keys so that the third button was now located on one of the side buttons. I achieved this by putting this line in my .xinitrc
Code:

xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 6 3 2 7 4 5" &

You can obviously switch the numbers around to suit your needs, just don't ask me which is which as I am still trying to figure that out. I think you can use "xev" to find out but I have been too lazy lately to try :)

Hope this answers your question.

For the backward and forward options in Moz, I think you're probably talking about mouse gestures and these can be installed from this site here:
http://optimoz.mozdev.org/

That's what I was using and it worked a charm. Although I have now changed to Galeon :)

check this thread for starters:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=21251

You may have to make a few changes since you have a different mouse, but that should get you pointed in the right direction. I can confirm those instructions work just fine for an Intellimouse Explorer Optical....shouldn't be too hard to get them working for a different mouse. you may need to use xev to investigate the signals those buttons generate...

Try here: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=25836

The MX700 is simply the wireless version of the MX500.

I haven't actually tried it yet, but my MX500 should be in by next week.
