Hi all,

I just emerged kde-3.5.1 and I noted automount wasn't working. So I went to check the settings and the checkbo saying Enable HAL backend (No support for HAL on this system) is greyed out and I can't check it. This while automount is working fine in gnome. What could be the problem?

Did you mount an ~x86 version of udev, hal or dbus ?

If yes try the stable version for all three of them. At least this works for me.

Are you using "hal dbus kde qt" as USE-flags in /etc/make.conf?

These are required for automounting to work properly. Re-emerge kdebase-kdestart and konqueror after making the changes to your make.conf.

Nevermind got it solved.
Needed to re-emerge dbus, hal and kdebase-kioslaves because I upgraded to a newer kernel version (from 2.6.15-r1 to 2.6.15-r7) and the problem is solved now.
