|

I have used register.com for my four domains for the last couple of years. Well, it is time to renew some of them, and I want to find a better deal with a registrar that has a reputation for easy administration, excellent customer service, and good pricing. Furthermore, register.com has been calling my cell phone (my only phone) non-stop for the last couple of weeks. I know this because I found this report by another guy who experienced the same thing. Now, it could be considered a good thing that register.com is trying to contact me to make me aware that my domain(s) are expiring, but I know when they expire, and I would rather my phone not ring constantly.
So, I ask you, Gentoo bretheren, what domain registrars do you recommend? I'm really looking for somebody with a simple to use web interface. Less marketing, please. A friendly voice that knows his or her stuff when/if I call. Quick, authoritative responses to e-mails I might send.
Thanks! |

I recommend NameCheap.com, have been using it for more than a year, and I'm very satisfied with the service, the price is 8.88$/year (there are coupon codes to reduce it even more), support is usually quick and helpful, and their control panel is easy to navigate through.
My post looks like an ad, but actually I'm a happy customer _________________ python>>> q="'";s='q="%c";s=%c%s%c;print s%%(q,q,s,q)';print s%(q,q,s,q)

I'm a bit pissed at Register.com, since just today they again spammed my boss with a WARNING!!! that a domain is about to expire. Not only have I transferred that domain to a different registrar, but I personally spoke to a Register.com employee confirming the transfer. She was supposed to have marked their records so they'd leave us the heck alone.
I'm happy with GoDaddy software, have 13 domains there. No fuss, no muss, a kind of ugly website. Have used their voice support, prompt, knowledgable, and friendly.

Another point of view....
I have domains registered at networksolutions, register.com, and bulkregister.
networksolution have a very "easy on the eyes" interface. The layout is done fairly well. I think they are really trying hard to overcome the reputation they earned in the early years.
register.com.. I have had a horrible time with them over the past couple of months. Their upgrade ruined me. The Technical Support wasn't much help either.
bulkregister... Their interface has to be one of the worst. The color scheme is enough to make your head hurt. But once you get over that, things work fairly well. If they cleaned up their interface a little, I would move the rest of them their.
I don't always look for the cheapest price. I look for the services that the Co. has. BR and NS have a lot of services.
Just my $.02...
