|

Hi,
first of all, excuse me if my question seems to be quite vague.. I've just installed a 2.4.31 kernel for some tests (I need it to work on a project for my thesis) and I've been able to boot and to get into the KDE environment.. Everything seems to work, apart from the various terminals, like xterm or konsole.. I know that I gave you no details, but perhaps some of you have an vague idea of a possible connection between a 2.4 kernel installation and the impossibility to load any terminal..
[Edit]
Ok, I've launched in kde a new X server with
and then I've run
Code: |
DISPLAY="127.0.0.1:1.0" xterm
|
and the problem seems to be related to PTYs:
Quote: |
xterm: Error 32, errno 2: No such file or directory
Reason: get_pty: not enough ptys
|
[Edit]
I recompiled the 2.4.31 kernel, overwriting the .config with the one taken from my 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 kernel and now konsole works perfectly while xterm window appears without any prompt and I get another error:
Quote: |
open ttydev: Permission Denied
fd3 and /dev/ttyp0 are not the same device
|
Any idea?
